“BLACK CROW WHITE PIGEON”. EXTRAORDINARY COFFEE STORIES.

Chapter 10

The Black Crow presents:

The sweet aromas of milk chocolate and caramel fill the air, coupled with a refreshing, delightfully subtle hint of ripe fruit…

This fragrant coffee originates from the estate of Fazenda Santa Luzia: flying high over it, one can observe its owner, José Maria de Oliveira, lovingly cultivating his coffee plants. Having spent a lot of his childhood running around a small coffee plantation owned by his grandfather, Jose has finally made his lifelong dream come true: he’s now back home, working hard to introduce the world to unique flavours from his native Campos Altos.

Operation & Care

Where is this coffee roasted?

This coffee is roasted by our partners in Lithuania, in one of the finest local roasteries.

What brewing methods are these coffee beans suited for?

These coffee beans are suited well for all brewing methods, be it espresso, filter, or infusing straight in a cup.

What's the difference between specialty coffee beans and regular ones?

Specialty coffee includes only the world’s best-rated varieties. Who rates it and how do they do that, you wonder? Well, the rating is in the hands of certified coffee tasters. They evaluate the quality of the coffee they’re presented with based on the scale created by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). Four criteria are assessed: origin, the appearance of green beans, the aroma of the prepared brew, and its flavour characteristics. Only coffees that end up scoring somewhere between 80 and 100 points can be rightfully referred to as “specialty”.

How does the natural processing method affect the flavour of coffee?

The natural process involves drying the coffee bean whole, that is, together with the pulp. Coffee processed in this way is sweeter, juicier and particularly full-bodied.

Is there lots of acidity in this coffee?

Even though specialty coffees are usually pretty fruity, Brazilian varieties tend to be the least acidic. That’s why this particular variety is suited well for those who have just started exploring the world of specialty coffee and hence would like to begin from flavours that are more traditional.

Brewed with a Sage Barista Express. This is a really nice every day coffee with clear tones of milk chocolate. It is really smooth and goes very well with milk based coffee drinks such as a flat white. I prefer a medium roast so this was perfect for me. Am trying lots of different varieties but will be sure to come back to this one.
