About Matcha tea

Did you need extra energy, but not as intense as after a cup of coffee? Have you already reached your daily coffee intake and are struggling to resist caffeine? Are you simply in search of a new and untasted beverage? No matter which option is closest to you, Matcha tea is an excellent choice. Enjoy the benefits of its rich flavour and discover a new source of energy!

What is Matcha?

What we call Matcha tea is actually ground green tea leaves – matcha powder. The picked leaves are steamed, dried, trimmed and finally ground. Matcha and green tea are made in different ways. When preparing the latter, the teas are only steeped in hot water for a while and then are discarded. Meanwhile, when making matcha, the powder is whisked into the water. Thus, matcha is intended for those who enjoy stronger flavours, while green tea will be an excellent choice for those who enjoy lighter flavours. If you want to replace matcha with similar but not identical flavours, there are a variety of green teas in the Coffee Friend assortment.

Different Macha producers: what kinds of Macha can be found?

Today, Matcha tea has conquered not only its home country, Japan, but also the whole world. It is a traditional tea beverage, a ceremonial tea, a matcha latte and even an ingredient in countless confectionery desserts.  Matcha tea can be rich and emerald, but have you ever tasted strawberry, mango, or blueberry matcha? Which one of these is the best matcha tea for you depends on your individual taste. Try all the different varieties and flavours of matcha tea at home.

Feel Brill. This is a premium matcha green tea that will please those who like lightly spiced teas. With no sugar or other additives, Japanese-made matcha comes in a dozen different flavours such as vanilla, mint, turmeric, cinnamon and many more. All packs contain 50 grams of powder, enough for up to 50 cups.

Blendsmiths. Characterised by strong main notes and a delicate floral aroma, Blendsmiths’ macha tea is made from hand-picked, lightly roasted and very finely ground tea herbs. Discover long-cherished traditions from Japan, given a new twist in Blendsmiths products. The assortment includes ceremonial matcha, matcha drink mixes and a matcha set for the brewing of this tea.

Lune Tea. Those who are still not satisfied with experiments can try exotic drinks such as blue or pink matcha (also known as pink matcha). These kinds are perfect for making traditional tea, as well as for flavouring and colouring pastries. It is important to note that, unlike traditional matcha, these Luna Teas do not contain caffeine, yet they are not inferior in taste.

True English Tea.  Are you more attracted to the creamy matcha latte rather than traditional matcha? Although it’s easy to prepare it yourself, instant matcha latte mixes make it even easier and are especially suitable for those in a hurry.  Moreover, they offer a wide range of flavours, from classic matcha to banana, ginger or mango. Choose the one that sounds the tastiest, add the powder, pour in hot water, stir and enjoy it.

Brewing Macha tea: how to make it?

Once you understand the benefits of this tea, and have chosen the type of tea, you may wonder how to brew macha tea. The simplest process for brewing matcha is similar to that for cocoa: place a small amount of powder in a cup and stir it with a splash of water until it is smooth. Then add water and stir with a whisk until a nice, slightly stiff foam develops on the top. However, if you want to try the traditional ritual of preparing matcha, then you will need to invest a bit more effort and use more utensils. A special matcha whisk will be very useful in the preparation of this beverage. When using a bamboo whisk, you can easily get rid of the clumps that sometimes form when whisking the powder and it helps to create a smooth blend with a good layer of froth on top. You will also need a small bowl or cup, preferably made of clay. If you want to make the process simpler, you can buy a ready-to-use set. A matcha tea set usually consists of the essential tools for making matcha tea: a bowl, a bamboo matcha whisk, a bowl to hold the whisk and a bamboo teaspoon.

Is it difficult to decide what to choose?

Favourite teas will give you energy and help you create unforgettable rituals. If you want to spice up the experience, the Coffee Friend’s assortment has a variety of delicious teas to suit every taste. After all, the world of tea is full of many colours, flavours and aromas.
