The alluring aroma of juicy raspberries and fresh redcurrants fills the air, with a sweet hint of ripe apples mixed in there too… The palate continues to be caressed by a delightfully berryish aftertaste for quite a while afterwards, making sure you’re left with a lasting impression.
Imagine yourself being transported straight to the distant Kenya, valued highly by true connoisseurs due to the extraordinarily rich coffees that grow here. In the region of Kirinyaga, there’s a wide expanse of fertile volcanic soil: this is where two arabica varieties particularly characteristic of Kenya—SL34 and SL28—are cultivated. Once picked, coffee cherries are washed using pure water coming straight from the nearby Kamweti river, then dried under the sweltering African sun.

We've called it "Funky Beans" because of how exotic and truly unexpected the flavours of these specialty coffees are. The ever-changing, limited-edition range promises some wild adventures, and bursts with funky energy.
Coffees that have scored over 80 points out of the possible 100 based on the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) scale are referred to as 'specialty'. The higher the score, the higher the quality, and the more extraordinary the flavour.
We roast this coffee in one of Europe's best-rated roasteries.
The washed processing method involves separating the bean from the pulp, fermenting the beans in water, then leaving them out to dry. This creates particularly "clean" flavours and well-defined notes, as well as tends to enhance fruitiness.
"Kenya Kariru" is one of our finest African specialty coffees. Like most coffees from Africa, it's marked by vivid acidity, which coffee connoisseurs from all over the world adore. Don't confuse it with the kind of acidity typical of low-quality coffees: this one's pleasantly sweet, fruity, and very much reminiscent of berries. Try it and see for yourself!
