WDT tool CHiATO

Those who are looking to ensure the ideal extraction and obtain the perfect serving of espresso are bound to love this innovative brewing tool. Known as a needle distributor, or a WDT tool, it’s designed to distribute ground coffee evenly in the portafilter, ensure the optimal flavour extraction and prevent the formation of clumps in your coffee, which ultimately leads to channeling (this term refers to the presence of weak spots in your coffee puck and results in uneven water flow).

WHAT DOES “WDT” STAND FOR? 

WDT, or Weiss Distribution Technique, is a ground coffee distribution method devised by John Weiss in 2005 and designed to help coffee lovers achieve the optimal extraction. This is done with the help of a special needle distributor (also known as a WDT tool), which gently stirs the coffee inside the portafilter. It’s suited perfectly for ambitious home baristas, as most of them use non-commercial grinders at home.

The WDT tool is designed to prevent the formation of clumps in your coffee, hence ensuring even ground coffee distribution and flavours extracted to perfection. 

HOW TO USE YOUR WDT TOOL? 

Using circular motions, gently stir the coffee in the portafilter, starting from the bottom and moving upwards slowly. For the best possible results, follow this up with a ground coffee distributor and only tamp your coffee afterwards.
