Appalling experience, contacted them to ask if a coffee machine was brand new and completely sealed, and was told in writing that it was. On the arrival of the machine, the box was damaged and where it was supposedly 'sealed', it was clear the box had been opened and as whoever opened it could not reclose it exactly as it should be, it was bodged together will sellotape and looked second hand. Even looking inside, the coffee machine, instead of being wrapped in the white bag it was originally packing in, it was possible to see the top of the machine. In challenging the company, the excuse was ' we opened it to put a UK power adapter inside'. I'm sorry, that didn't wash. IF they needed to supply this adapter, there was plenty of room in the huge packing box to place it in there WITHOUT breaking the seal on a 'supposedly' factory sesled machine. On writing to the Managing Director, he attitude was of 'it's being dealt with' and not even an offer of an apology for my experience. I eventually got the machine collected and a refund paid. I would not recommend anyone to buy from this company, especially with such an attitude to lie and then try to cover it up and no contrition from the MD.

The Senseo is great and an improvement over the original model. I much prefer using coffee pads over the pods. The price at Coffee Friends was very competitive and the free delivery arrived the next day. My only complaint would be that this was clearly a European spec model with a continental plus (with adapter added into the box) and non English instruction. Neither of which were a big problem, but I feel that it should have stated.

I found what I was looking for straight away and it was easy to order

I ordered a Lelit Fred coffee grinder late on a Friday afternoon, with a 1-3 working day delivery time. I'd already contacted Coffee Friend and confirmed the item was in stock before ordering. I was drawn to ordering from them because of the attractive price and had not looked at too many reviews, but after ordering saw quite a few negative reviews, one of which said the grinder they'd received was used and had coffee grounds still inside. I expected the worst, but on the Wednesday morning the grinder arrived, being within the promised timescale. The item was really well packed – double boxed and well padded inside. However, my heart sank when I saw loose coffee grinds in the plastic bag and the smell of coffee. My wife suggested that it may have been tested at the factory, perhaps an implausible idea given that they must be turned out by the thousand. To be sure, I emailed Lelit and within a few minutes got a personalised reply saying that the machines are indeed tested by grinding coffee, and that despite efforts to remove particles some remain. They also said there's a slip inside the hopper which points this out. Overall I've had a really good service and the machine came with a moulded UK mains plug. I can't fault Coffee Friend and would certainly have no hesitation in buying from them again. The price paid was far lower than any other supplier and the machine itself has lived up to every expectation.
